Well I had an exciting evening this past week! I got to travel down to the Kohl’s in Jersey City, New Jersey to check out their latest designer collection: Peter Som for Kohls St. Barth’s-inspired collection!
Exclusive for Kohl’s, Peter Som’s new line is inspired by the beach-casual looks of St. Barth’s! We vacationed in the Caribbean for our honeymoon, so I was interested to see how the laid-back feel of an island came to life in a fashion line!
And I was curious to meet a real fashion designer. Peter Som turned out to be down-to-earth and friendly. He worked with us bloggers to give suggestions for coordinating his fashion pieces with other items at Kohl’s.
As a mom of two, I don’t often get the chance to shop for myself for a couple hours, so my favorite part of the night was the fun of coordinating outfits with the Peter Som collection.
First I did a little “mix and match” to find items that would match with clothing I already have at home. Which… is in itself a great style exercise for anybody, because it always helps to think about how pieces you buy will go along with your current wardrobe!
My favorite looks were the black and white striped pieces, but I have to admit the striped and pineapple top (pictured above) really caught my eye. I think it could be my “on-trend” piece to add to my wardrobe. I liked the mix of geometrics with print.
What struck me most about this collection is how as much as it has signature trendy pieces, there’s also several classic and timeless items to build a wardrobe with. The Peter Som cream moto-jacket is one of those pieces. Lightweight and perfect for layering, this three-season jacket will be a staple in my closet (yep, I got it!).
And here’s what you need to know about the Peter Som collection – I tried on at least eight key pieces and EVERY one fit so well. It’s always great to find a collection or designer where you know the clothes will always fit comfortably!
