Let me just tell you, with all the snow we’ve had this winter, I am so ready for spring, even if it’s just happening in my closet!
Know what’s a fun time? Grabbing my sis, dropping the kids at mom’s and jetting out the door for some spring wardrobe shopping at Kohl’s! (And it actually did snow a little blizzard while we were in the store! We were too busy shopping to notice!).
My sister and I had a blast trying on different spring trends at Kohl’s from brands like Simply Vera by Vera Wang, ELLE, Apt. 9 and more! Here’s two looks I created with the popular nautical stripes you’ll see this spring:
I’ve been working to have a more versatile wardrobe, so I looked for pieces that could mix and match, blend in well with the rest of my closet.
What I love about this year’s spring styles is the variety. Some years the trend is just ONE color or style and I don’t love it. But this year check out the many style options to love:
- wink of pink – subtle shades of light pink and corals
- feminine blouses
- dainty jewelry
- statement necklaces
- laser cut shoes and handbags
- roll cuff denim
- nautical stripes
- florals
I was drawn to the tailored styles of Apt. 9 fashions. Simple lines, trendy colors, and bold patterns dominate this brand’s sense of style.
I love that nautical stripes are back, because stripes happen to be a favorite style trend of mine (I dress my boys in them often and am loving they are back on trend for ME!). This Apt. 9 lightweight sweater has black and white stripes with wider bands at the top for contrast. It paired perfectly with this Apt. 9 pencil skirt in royal blue – a color I’ve been wanting to add to my closet lately!
Since I loved the nautical stripe top so much, I want to be able to wear it in a few different ways. Roll cuff denim is a hot trend this year, and paired nicely with the striped top (I borrowed the skinny belt from the skirt for an alternate look). Now I can wear nautical stripes dressy or casual!
To liven up either look, I added this coral statement necklace (also Apt. 9 – guess I really have a thing for that brand!).

I love how this spring’s fashion let me create two style ideas with the same main piece! It’s perfect for when I might go to church in the morning, and then visit in-laws for the afternoon – I’ll only have to change one piece to get a whole new look!
Spring looks this year are bright and inspiring and I can’t wait to go shopping again at Kohl’s soon for more pieces!
